The idea
As passionated fishermen my father and me have for long been dreaming about owning a house in Ireland. After traveling to Iceland, Norway, Scotland, Canada and many other places we have constantly returned to Ireland for some reason: although the amount of fish you can catch in Iceland as well as the average weight of a salmon in Norway might be higher than in Ireland - we could´t get the overall picture of the Emerald Isle as both a holiday destination and a fishing paradise out of our heads. So in 2017 we finally decided to buy a lovely 180 sqm Lodge on Lough Carra, Mayo, Ireland. After searching for more than a year we have finally found our second home. Why Lough Carra? - the lough is not dangerous and offers excellent fishing. Moreover, within 10 minutes drive you can easily enter Lough Mask and within 30 minutes drive you are standing in one of the most prolific Salmon Rivers of Europe - the Moy. Hence, to whatever you are up to in the morning, is it either Salmon-, Pike- or Trout fishing, a day trip to the sandy beaches or simply having a lovely pint of Guiness in the pub in Galway - Brownstown Lodge is the ideal starting position. Finally, as we are living in Germany and love to share our passion of fly fishing and Ireland as a whole, we decided to rent to Lodge out and give visiting anglers the chance to catch their fish of lifetime, too. Our Lodge has been build to very high standards and guests can use all amenities such as Wi-Fi or satellite TV as well.
